SBM Management, a dynamic integrated facilities support organization, is currently searching for a SR Payroll Specialist to join our in-house payroll team. The SR Payroll Specialist assists and coordinates in high volume recording hours of work in the timekeeping system, processing time records, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, calculating payrolls, garnishments, employee separations and payroll solutions by performing the following duties.

  • Supports the team with questions and assist the team with overflow workload.
  • Assists with the ticketing system, payroll solution emails, and payroll solution phone calls.
  • Assists in escalations on errors and complaints and reports issues to the Payroll Supervisor.
  • Reviews data integrity recording of new or existing payroll changes.
  • Assists with sick and vacation pay calculations according to company policy.
  • Prepares and reviews payroll reports and record keeping.
  • Reviews and approves payroll timekeeping, adjustments, processing, garnishments, terminations and deductions to ensure accuracy.
  • Process and prepare on cycle and off cycle paychecks on a daily, weekly, and bi-weekly basis.
  • Assists with improving procedures to help efficiency and accuracy.
  • Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred : Associates degree in Accounting, or a related field from a two-year college or university with 5 year of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a payroll department with HR to PR system integrations at a publicly traded company preferred
  • Knowledge of general payroll practices, IRS and State regulations
  • Knowledge of multi-state pay related specific practices (and local ordinances)
  • Must be proficient working with larger payroll systems that integrate or interface with other systems
  • Intermediate Windows suite skills (particularly Excel) required
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and propose paths to solution
  • Ability to work as a team player, on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment
  • Certified Payroll Professional Designation a plus; basic payroll class completion (local APA chapter) a plus
  • American Payroll Association member a plus
  • Payroll tax experience a plus
  • Reconciliation experience a plus
