Job Description

SBM Management is searching for a Senior Project Manager! This position is responsible for overall direction, implementation, execution, control, and project management of enterprise-wide technical projects, including the research and development of new concepts, ideas and applications ensuring consistency with SBM’s strategy, commitments, and goals. Interface with Technology and business unit functional teams to develop and achieve project objectives.  Monitors teams to make sure goals and objectives are being kept. Knowledge of larger landscape without neglecting granular details while tracking project health, staying alert for risk and resolving issues as they arise. Maintains standards and monitors scope with project quality. The Project Manager will also identify and implement process improvements within the confines of the projects.

  • Utilize project management methodologies, systems and tools to effectively direct all project phases (Define/Initiate, Plan, Execute, Monitor and Close)
  • Manage multiple project consultants. Gather bids and work with functional managers to align with goals and budgets.
  • Maintain deadlines with consultants and ensure project requirements are completed
  • Lead development of the project proposal to ensure scope of work is properly defined and that the project manager has a clear understanding of objectives.
  • Maintain strategic focus to ensure balance between immediate project needs and long term company goals
  • Track projects against schedule, budget and phase objectives; establish reporting strategy to communicate project status to Manager and key stakeholders
  • Develop and implement recovery action plans for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences
  • Mentor and coach Project Management teams assigned to support each project
  • Lead regular Project Meetings in cooperation with Manager
  • Manage project budgets and control expenses effectively
  • Provide feedback regarding performance of subordinates performance to respective functional managers
  • Resolve issues promptly and identify corrective measures to be implemented by Project Management team
  • Recommend new processes as needed to improve quality, cost, or on-time delivery
  • Identify project scope changes and prepare communications to notify stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key customer stakeholders on each project; continually seek to capitalize on opportunities to increase customer satisfaction
  • Supports operational needs, as needed
  • May manage subordinate Project Managers, Project Management teams and project consultants.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  

  • Specific projects will require interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Some travel will be required for this position

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; masters preferred
  • 10+ years experience in project management, especially larger projects with established firms
  • PMP certification required; PMO experience preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees, and general public.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to define problem, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of Database software; Design software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software (MS Project, Smartsheet, JIRA, etc) ; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Experience with integrating data from multiple systems into single application or platform strongly preferred.
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license and meet SBM Driver Approval requirements.
  • Customer service, problem solving, time management, project management, planning, excellent communication, presentation, interviewing, coaching and training skills. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Computer Skills.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Experience in Agile teams.
  • Expertise in conflict resolution.

 Available Shift:  Full Time

Compensation:  DOE
