Job Description

SBM Management is looking to hire a Labor Relations Specialist to join their team!  This position is responsible for assisting the operations of the HR department.  Advises management on the subject of company policy, federal and state laws and CBA requirements.  Partners with the HR team to investigate employee grievances and complaints. 

  • Provides advice, consultation and direction to Leaders to resolve employee relation issues involving a variety of areas including but not limited to corrective action, workplace behavior, performance and attendance.
  • Conducts internal investigations and prepares investigative reports.
  • Assists with the administration and interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Administers employee relations programs, to maintain consistent application of human resources policies, including progressive discipline counseling, and termination issues.
  • Drafts employee corrective action plans, and termination documentation for assigned employees. Makes appropriate recommendations for corrective action that align with company policies, practices, and CBA.
  • Provide consultation and recommendations to staff and managers in the interpretation of policies and procedures, including conducting training/educational sessions to staff and managers.
  • Responsible for assuring policies are maintained, kept current, and are in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Recognize compliance issues and proactively suggest solutions or best practices to address issues.
  • Assure compliance with the federal, state, and local laws pertaining to requests for accommodations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities, including FMLA, and leave of absence requests.
  • Partner with leadership team in designing and executing activities designed to enrich morale and employee commitment. Support leadership to recognize and demonstrate appreciation to employees consistently.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyzes data and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Maintains working relationships with union representatives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience with 1-3 years of experience.
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
  • Industry certifications a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus 

Available Shift:  Full Time 

Compensation:  The salary for this position is $58,000 per year
