Job Description


SBM Management is searching for a System Administrator! The Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and improving the corporate infrastructure to include Servers, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Backups, SAN, VM's, Workstations, VOIP phones/PBX, and Mobile devices. Assists the IT department with system configuration, setup, monitoring, account maintenance, and requested configuration changes. Demonstrates a blend of advanced technical knowledge, hands-on support skills, teamwork, excellent communication abilities, positive can-do attitude, and strong Project Management skills.

  • Supports the installed Windows systems infrastructure
  • Provides support and planning for Cisco LAN/WAN/VPN switches, routers and firewalls
  • Defines and implements upgrades to the infrastructure and systems
  • Tests and evaluates network changes to eliminate problems and make improvements
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of VOIP systems
  • Documents the current and proposed configurations
  • Creates detailed technical procedures and plans
  • Provides troubleshooting and customer support as needed to the Tier 1/Tier 2 helpdesk team
  • Provides technical training and guidance to less experienced team members
  • Participates actively on project teams
  • Monitors Alerts for problem areas
  • May require some travel
  • Will require some after-hours support as needed for maintenance during non-production hours

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science; or five+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Network Administration/Network Engineer certification in Microsoft Server/Exchange.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  
  • Must be able to clearly and concisely articulate issues and resolutions to both management and end users as required both written and verbally. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of server management, installation, and administration, server infrastructure, hardware, software, and operations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V and experience supporting VM environments.
  • Knowledge of Authentication services (AD, LDAP), SAN support, and Backup & Restore technologies and procedures.
  • Familiar within server products including MSSQL, Oracle, Exchange, SharePoint, and IIS.
  • Familiar with standard industry concepts, practices, and procedures of server and systems management.
  • Some experience with MacOS, iOS, Android is a plus. As systems are changed and upgraded it is required to stay current on knowledge of the environment being supported.
  • Current Microsoft Systems Administration or System Engineer certification or equivalent is required.
  • Cisco Certifications are a plus.
  • Windows/Exchange 2013/Active Directory/DHCP/DNS, Microsoft Hyper-V, Router/Switch deployment, MS Project or other PM Tools, Backup Exec Experience,  Strong People Skills,  Use of Ticketing Systems, System Imaging Tools, and Project Planning and Reporting.
