The InSite software division is a separate SBM business entity that is chartered with the design, development and support of the company’s technology used by its massive work force and independent clients.  We are building the next generation service provider platform targeting facilities management.  Our platform gives service providers the tools necessary to deliver world class services, with empowered associates on top of standardized processes.  The InSite team is tasked with developing cutting edge web and mobile applications that differentiate SBM from its competitors.  We value our work force as much as we do our customers which is why we have made this large investment in technology.

The Product Manager’s role is the development of new products and enhancements for the InSite web application and the InSite Android mobile application.  The InSite web application is our primary interface for accessing our system for PC, tablet and mobile web application.  The web application is a complex tool that is the basis for how SBM empowers its’ workforce and manage our customers.  The web application consists of 9 primary modules that allows us to manage such things as contract setup, on-line learning / knowledge center, financials and safety to name a few.  The web application suite allows in-depth, complex analysis for senior and executive management so they can effectively run the company.  The InSite mobile application supports the hourly workforce by taking much of the functionality of our web application and presenting it in a native Java application for Android phones.

The Product Manager role is a unique position that is composed of leadership, creativity and organization.  You will be responsible for understanding the business and user requirements and shaping that information into a product that is easy to use and makes our customers jobs more efficient.  The Product Manager will organize and direct work to cross functional teams composed of design, engineering, quality assurance, and customer care groups.  You’ll also be responsible for gathering important company needs and developing them into a comprehensive plan shared with shareholders and Insite team leaders.

  • Define, develop, and test product ideas for the InSite team. As a product leader, you are the owner for the website and mobile application experience for our customers.  You need to use a data driven approach to decide on what features to create and test.  Define KPIs for measuring product success and failure.  Test and iterate in small-scale in the design track to validate concepts with the users.
  • Define and own the InSite product innovation roadmap and timeline for the website and mobile application.
  • Work cross-functionally with teams across the company to develop and execute your ideas through all aspects of the product development lifecycle including design, development, testing, and productization.
  • Quickly develop an in-depth knowledge of our market place.
  • Contributing to a fast-moving, results-driven culture that also prioritizes continuous learning.
  • Build internal and external relationships across Insite and Insite’s customers.
  • Own all / support communication of new product definition and development with our external customers, internal customers and development team members.
  • Evaluate the quality of our software:
    • Ensuring what has been agreed upon with our customers is what has been designed.
    • Ensuring what has been designed is what has been implemented.
    • Ensuring what has been implemented is properly tested and ready for release.
    • Ensuring that our customers are prepared and trained for the new products being deployed.
  • Solid expertise with communication / organization tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack, Basecamp.
  • Solid understanding of process definition tools like Gifi.
  • Solid understanding of project tracking tools like Smartsheet.
  • Understanding of design tools such as InVision
  • Be driven to have a deep understanding of what you and your teammates are working on, why it is important and how you fit in to accomplishes the business goals.
  • Superior communication skills. Whether it’s written, verbal, formal presentation or informal hallway talks, the successful candidate will be a superstar.  Concise, honest and accurate techniques are a must. 
  • You must have the courage to give your team, peers and managers constructive feedback. Feedback given correctly and received correctly is a gift.
  • Be a great problem solver. The right candidate must be constantly looking for issues and solving them effectively.  Issues can range from people to tech to business.  If you don’t enjoy problem solving, this is not the right job for you.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, graphics design, MBA or relevant field or equivalent prior work experience and training.
  • 7+ years of experience in product management for technology companies developing enterprise web and mobile applications.
  • Proven successful track record of successful product development for large software applications. Be prepared to explain in detail.
  • Demonstrate ability to coordinate cross-functional groups to accomplish goals.

  • Experience managing a portfolio of products and driving projects from inception through delivery.
  • Travel or hospitality industry experience a plus.
  • Directly lead a team of product managers is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience with engineering groups developing software using agile methods.
  • Experience being successful in a startup environment is a big plus.
  • Be a mature full formed adult in your interactions with people. Conduct yourself with respect for others but drive results.

Compensation:  The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000 DOE per year
